Universal Enterprise Search

In the Enterprise Search world, HTML/XML content is referred to as “unstructured data”, while network file systems, e-mail repositories, content and record management systems, databases and business application platforms – all fall within the definition of “structured data”.

While some Enterprise Search vendors have the ability to search structured data like file, content and record systems, email and few even go into pre-selected database records (including Google OneBox), only Queplix QBA provides truly universal ability to crawl through applications and index and rank objects contained inside applications’ databases. Queplix product is sold as a plug-and-play appliance and you can purchase it bundled with Google GSA or use it to enable any other search engine within your enterprise to be universal.

The key difference between Queplix and other UES software that actually searches application data is that other vendors require system integration work to pre-select what tables and records within what systems need to be searched and brought back (using Google ObeBox in example of GSA). Once those tables and records are selected, the user is constrained to only search inside those records and tables. This defeats the purpose of Universal Search.

Queplix user does not need to know what systems, tables or records he or she needs to search. All that is required from the user is to enter the search query. Queplix will deliver the relevant and ranked results to the user, based on the user’s role (within all indexed systems this user has access to). This will provide Enterprise Users the same experience as they are used to receive from Google on the Web, while constrained by strict roles, permissions and security of the enterprise.
